I loved the 1st Fabian Risk book “Victim Without A Face” with its twisted character seeking revenge; this one pushed was a bit too graphic for my personal preference.

Synes ikke denne var like bra som den første. Litt mye som skjedde på samme tid, både side plots, litt mange karakterer og litt for mye på en gang, og det ble rett og slett forvirrende

I'm giving this 3 stars just for the plot line. The writing is pedestrian, and the characters are boring. Supposedly the 2nd book in the series, and the precursor to the 1st book. But it would hardly matter. This is a very hard story to read with multiple gruesome deaths with not very likeable victims. However, the real perpetrator is lost in the verbiage. However, I have my suspicion he will turn up in the next one.
Not sure I will bother with the next one.
This author is hailed as the next Steig Larsen but I don't think Steig would be flattered by that.

Obviously I read the English version.

Generally, I don't enjoy prequels. I like books written in the order that they take place. But I enjoyed reading this book and seeing glimpses of the characters that we got to know in the first book.

Anyway, with Ahnhem, I know to skip the gross bits and just follow the investigation.

Nu înțeleg agitația și recenziile la superlativ pentru seria asta. Primul volum a fost slab cu indulgență. Am zis să-i mai dau o șansă cu al doilea. Bad idea.

Une palestienienne dont l'amoureux israélien est tué par l'armée israélienne se venge en commettant dans un pays européen des actes de barbarie extrémement graves en "ayant Dieu de son côté" (le mot terrorisme n'est pas employé mais on en devine le contour).
Besoin de plus de clichés ? Clichés très graves et particulièrement dommageables en ces temps.
En 700 pages, l'auteur n'a apparemment trouvé aucun moment pour prendre conscience des conséquences détrimentales de ses écrits sur la société.
Une honte.

Ah aussi au final les grands méchants sont bien israéliens. Mais on ne s'étale pas sur la gravité des crimes qu'ils ont commis...


PS: l'auteur a également un sérieux problème avec les femmes qui ne portent pas de culottes.
