Although I found the information interesting and the settings and historical details to be convincing, I’m afraid his approach didn’t work that well for me. Just as I was getting interesting in Lensinda’s story, the novel appeared to move away from her. Absolutely loved this book! Learning about a complex history I didn’t know much about through these incredible characters was humbling and inspiring. We are all connected and it’s incredible the things our ancestors went through have lead to our existence.

The writing is very beautiful! However, the structure and many plot lines and characters, made this a difficult book to get through. I'm not sure if I truly understand all the threads of the story and I feel like I'm missing something crucial.
***********Spoilers

For those who read the book, can someone explain to me Chiron? Was he able to free Cash and his family?
Also, why did Lensinda run away from home after the fire?

Great work that explores early Canada through the eyes of BIOPIC people and their experiences in Canada.

Important story. Difficult to follow and engage with the multiple narratives.
