Brilliant history of the Roman Empire. Beard delivers this history with wit and with her well-organized and re-organized narratives that sort the story not into one linear timeline but into topics and stories that helped me attach to what I was learning and absorb it. Would like to read more from her! 

I enjoyed it a lot. Learned so much about early Roman history that I didn’t know. I was sad the emperors/rulers weren’t focused on much, but that wasn’t the aims of the book. 

Nothing was going in! Also what was this structure? Was there one?
