Breathtakingly beautiful.

I read this because of the many quotes in Eliot Pattison's Shan series - I found them very beautiful and I wanted to read more. And I admit that I have been curious about the Tao Te Ching before. I picked this translation because of the many enthusiastic reviews, and while this is the first I have read (obviously), I did glance at a few German ones that I didn't like as much.

The 81 verses or poems are incredibly beautiful and inspiring. This is not the kind of book you read once and are then done with - this is the kind of book that you pick up again and again and every time it will show you something different.

On a more superficial note, I really love the book design, both outer and inner. It's only a paperback, yes, but it's elegant and simple and fits the content 100%. I love this.

Will Reread

Will reread this for sure. Timeless ideas of wisom contained within the text. I finally have enough words for the review.

I suspect that much of this translation is more of an interpretation. Reads beautifully.
