This book, in my honest opinion and not meant to hurt anyone who really loved this book, was very mid. This book also has a "Enemies to Lovers trope" however, its honestly one of the weakest ones. I also was a little disappointed with how little there had to do with the dragons in this book.  There was also an incredible lack of world building in this book. We get like 2 chapters of world building that are so painstakingly forced into the book that I immediately forgot what was written in those chapters. I still have no idea why this continent (planet?) are at war to begin with and why it has lasted as long as it did. I went into this book hearing all the hype about it and was the most put down by the continuity of the chapters.

For example, towards the beginning of the book when Violet was told to run away from a character because she was about to be caught, she runs and that's the end of the chapter. The beginning of the next chapter just completely skipped a month in the timeline without resolving her running away. There was no resolution.  There are multiple moments where the chapters just have a random time skip from what is happening at the end of a previous chapter and then skips like a month or a couple of months at the beginning of the next chapter. It feels like the book was missing chapters in that sense.

It made it very hard to read this book because of all the skips in the timeline that were not very well executed. The last 120 pages or so were the best of the whole book because there was not skipping around. I bought the second book when I bought the first book so I do plan on continuing the series and I hope that the second book is better, if not, I do not believe that I will be able to finish this series when the next book comes out.

Again, this is all my opinion so don't come at me for really not enjoying the authors writing style and "fast paced writing" without giving us actual world building or resolving situations, and just skipping ahead a few weeks or months in the storyline because she didn't want a 700+ page book.

I loved this book! It was fun and a page turner. I loved the main characters and the side ones too!

This book seriously had me gasping every couple of pages with twists and turns. You cheered, you got angry, you cried (a lot), and you swooned. It was tension filled and had me screaming at the book. But it was worth the wait!

What to expect:
- Enemies to lovers
- forced proximity
- training
- shadow daddy
- dragons and dragon bonding
- tension and slow burn
- found family

Overall: 5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 2/5 🔥🔥

It was a great book overall, and had a good amount of story building. I'm super excited to read Iron Flame, and eventually (when it comes out next year) Onyx Storm.
