This is so much telling and not showing. Month long time jumps and we are just supposed to go along with it. The “love story” is the hardest for me to get into because we don’t see anything that would make me think they are meant to be. Also it shouldn’t be that easy to just say F the ppl you consider family.

Murderville by Ashley and JaQuavis is the first book in the Murderville trilogy. It is the story of As'hai and Liberty, two children who are victimized by the civil war in Sierre Leone. The story is read brilliantly by Cary Hite. It is told in the first person alternating between the events in both the central characters lives.

The story was riveting from the beginning. I loved that it was more a story of love at first sight than one filled with violence and crime. My favourite part had to be when the Murder Mamas from the Cartel series showed up to save the day.

Pretty good read by A&J. I didn't know how the pages behind this story were to unfold but they surely did a good job with it.

I was skeptical of this book at first thinking I wasn't going to be able to get into it. It surprised when it picked up after A'shai and Liberty become friends. I loved how at such a young age A'shai made himself Liberty's protector and even called her his wife. It broke my heart that they lived such troubled childhoods and were separated under horrible circumstances. But their bond was so strong they never forgot one another even though they lived very different lives. This was a story all about loyalty and survival and although I am sad at the fate in the end I am curious to read the next installment.
