I give this one 4 stars for originality, and if you’re into mysteries, you should probably read this one.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Don’t get me wrong, it was on my list because the plot sounded good. But that’s true of everything that I read, and then, I get disappointed.

This book delivers from the point of view of a mystery. The story, like many others, proposes something horrible at the beginning, and then it takes you back in time to discover what happened. Even when you probably know exactly what happened, you’ll be surprised by many other things.

In my opinion, this book is worthwhile your time.

Every time I thought I knew where the story was going, I was wrong. This book was enjoyable to read.

Suggested TW: childbirth, postpartum depression, rape, drinking, mention of suicide, domestic abuse, stillbirth/ miscarriage, body issues following pregnancy

It was just meh for me. I think there is absolutely a reader out there who is going to love this, though. Probably wouldn't recommend to people who are picky about their thrillers.

A domestic suspense novel with heart. Willett perfectly describes the exhaustion of being a new mother, how it can amplify feelings of inadequacy, and how it can make you do and think things that you never thought you would think or do. She weaves this skillfully into a story of revenge and comeuppance. One that ultimately isn't as simple as you think.

Recommended for book groups and for domestic suspense fans who want a little something to think about.

Interesting book. Very slow start, too slow. Almost didn’t finish because it felt like the book was never going anywhere. Then it picked up and made a sharp left at the end. Not expecting it.

This one didn't work for me. The "main" story "ended" around 70%, and the rest of the book felt like a sequel. I know it was supposed to be a twist, but it was just too different, too much of a turn. I was liking it until I got to that twist, but after that, things just fell apart.

3.5 stars.

Quick and fun read, even though I found the writing a bit cringe at times and didn't like the characters that much. This had some good twists though. I knew there would be at least one twist (because otherwise it would've been way too predictable), but I just didn't know how the story would be twisted. I would've rated this 3 stars, but the the last 20% of the book, which was a lot more fast-paced, made me give it an extra 1/2 star. Overall, I thought the story was structured and paced well.

I really enjoyed this book! Finished it in a day. Interesting characters, new mom narrator who is relatable and engaging, fantastic plot twist.

The first 3/4 of this book was very good and reminded me of the early days of motherhood, parenting groups, and the craziness of neighborhood parenting boards (shout to DCurbanmoms!). The last 1/4 went a little bit off the rails and tried to hard with alllllll of the twists. Still a super enjoyable read, especially for an Amazon monthly first reads, many of which I do not even finish.
