I’m a sucker for a Slaughter book. Loved Pieces of Her so I was excited to open this sequel. Not disappointed.

I really don’t like the Andrea character and I don’t find any of her backstory interesting. I’ll DNF this one.

Super slow in parts. It got better the farther into the book I got.

I found the story super captivating and I appreciated the growth in Andrea. Speaking of Andrea, she finally found her tongue in this book! It felt like in the last book she was always speechless or caught off guard, but this time she actually speaks!
Finally, Catfish Bible, you beautiful bastard

3/5. a step up from the first book in the series. Not overly thrilling & somewhat predictable. Overall still enthralled by Slaughter’s writing style & will continue to devour her books!

Sorry to say this was the absolute worst book I’ve read from this author whom I normally adore. Took me a month and half to read due to constantly putting it off.

I was almost more interested in the past mystery than I was in the present one. It may have been better if they hadn't shoehorned in the plot connection to the 1st novel. It was almost irrelevant and could have easily been cut out. Other than that, the mystery was intriguing but it wrapped up a little too quickly. And I would have liked to see a bit more of how the side plot "villains" ended.
