I found Dexter’s commentary in the book to be entertaining. However, I think the show did a much better job with the plot line and other characters.

I genuinely enjoyed this. I absolutely loved the series and was looking forward to reading the books. This was my first one of the series and it is, believe it or not, even better than the TV series. I am looking forward to my next experience with Dexter and his Dark Passenger.

I can't believe i never watched Dexter until this year! We have been binge watching, which for us is a few episode a week.😄 I love it! It We're now up to season 3. This book became season 1 with the first half of the book pretty closely reflected in the show, but the second half is pretty different. The show is much more in-depth but the main difference for me was the Dark Passenger which wasn't in season 1 at all (from memory). It's like the devil on his shoulder. It gets a mention in season 2. And one of the main characters from the show dies in book 1!

I keep going back and forth on rating this 3 stars or 4 stars because I keep comparing it to the show, which is not really fair. So going to give it 4 stars!
I think the book was really good. I also think that I would have enjoyed it more had I not known what was going to happen. The series was almost exact to the book, at least the 1st one. I would have been in the edge of my seat if I was going into the book blind and the ending would have been such a shocker!! It was really dark and we got to really get inside Dexter’s head. I really have to give the book credit though because Dexter is such an icon and it all started with the books!!
