Very interesting read to start off the year!  While I ended up reading most of it, the audio version had a male narrator for the podcast versions, which was a really nice touch.

I thought it was surprisingly funny amid all of the heavy content.  Definitely would read more by the author!

When I got into the nitty gritty of this and realized it was another murder podcast book, I thought it would be just that. I was happily mistaken!! I found myself NEEDING to listen to more as the story progressed, waiting for the truth to be revealed. I loved the parallel of learning about Past Lucy and Current Lucy, and I have high hopes for Future Lucy!

This was super cute! The narrator Lucy’s character well-developed and likable. She is the type of person who is tough in the outside but more sensitive than they let on, so we got to see all sides of her. She was unreliable as part of the story, and this made the plot all the more fun. The podcast angle was different and I enjoyed that way of learning more about what happened many years ago. I enjoyed this!

I found this on TikTok. I listened as an audiobook. While I will say, at first I was intrigued. It quickly ran on too long, the characters were not likable, and it felt underwhelming/underdeveloped.

“No one expects the truth from me anyway.”

Perhaps one of the greatest audiobook experiences and one of the best audiobooks I’ve encountered in a while!
In fact, I had to go and pick up the paperback copy too just to complete the collection and the reading journey 🫣. The format was just so good - I absolutely adored the podcast segments, especially as a true crime podcast listener. There were times when I forgot I was listening to a fictional story and not an actual podcast.

The characters are complex, in an intriguing way. I mean…it’s a small town and that small town mentality is definitely depicted here. And what it means for a young woman to feel trapped in that setting.

All the little twists and who interacted with whom had me shocked 😨.
Plus, the interactions between Lucy and Ben were SO fascinating. Intrusive thought went wild too 🙃

Pick this uppppp
