I’ve read several narratives on the Holocaust but none like Rudy’s. It is horrifying, devastating, and inspiring all at once. This man survived the most horrific circumstances to escape and warn the world. A unique perspective particularly for its publishing so close the the war.

A gripping story full of hope and horrors. It's hard to think that this is reality. This happened. No matter how much I read of Vrba's experience I will never know the pain and terror he experienced. I can only be thankful that he had the guts to escape and tell the world.

Very good book with good detail and action. Impactful in its description of how the SS efficiently killed thousands of people and kept the operation secret. Vrba and his co-escapee describe the desperation and challenges associated with trying to plan escape and find a window for leaving. The logistics and external navigation looked daunting but both men were driven by the need to stop the systemic murder by notifying the outside world. Borrowed this book from hoopla and there is a complement movie offered that shows the brutality. When folks are minimizing the MAGA right courting and coddling Nazi's you can share this book (and movie) with them.
