I enjoyed Vivian Apple Needs a Miracle more than I liked Vivian Apple at the End of the Word, which is saying something, because when I read a series, my enjoyment usually declines with each book. This one was way more action-packed and dramatic than Vivian Apple at the End of the World, and I like the way Vivian emerged as even more of a heroine. It was a little predictable on the Peter front, but other than that, I really did like this one.
adventurous

:/

I liked the first one well enough, but this one couldn't keep my attention. Emotions were running high but I just didn't buy them, and then the whole last act was just a total mess.

Began reading this because I liked the first cover and expected some sort of girly adventure story, but was excited to find that it had so much more to offer! It made me question some serious sides of religion and society and life in general, while keeping me entertained with a teenage love story!

Ahh this was another one that I read so fast IDEK it barely processed as a book. Really funny and intense. I LOVED Harp's blogs. Hilarious. I love all the lady power in these books. (Friendship power! Sister power! Maternal power! Eat a dick, patriarchy.)

I think this was a really good follow up book. Vivian Apple at the End of the World was very special to me at the time it was done in Reblog Book Club, so it was always going to be hard to replicate that same magic. But I think Katie Coyle did a great job of keeping these characters complicated and lovable, and there were still some great (and devastating) surprises.

Oh Vivian...so much to do, so little time...until the apocalypse. Or is there? Is it coming? What about Frick? What about the "angels" of the church? Will Viv and Harp save the world?
