I honestly have no feelings toward this play. It feels shameful to say (as an English major) that I am not super familiar with Shakespeare. Before reading this play I had literally only read Romeo and Juliet and Julius Caesar in full. I wish I had a love for Shakespeare, I really do. I am just part of the unfortunate faction of nonadmirers. I think I just "don't get it." I had to read this for my Shakespeare seminar on nature and there certainly are worse assigned readings out there so I should count my blessings. It's not like this is bad, and I even loved the humor enough to snort out loud at some points. I am just a modern literature enthusiast. Hopefully I'll return to this review one day and want to bash in my own head over my past stupidity.

The true treat was watching clips of David Tennant as King Richard

I have to admit, I have been avoiding reading any of Shakespeare's War of the Roses plays. Mainly because I was worried about being bored. I should not have worried, this play is engaging and emotional. I do think that it helped that I listened to a dramatized version while reading the play. The dramatized play allowed me to hear and feel the intent of the words in the play and I definitely enjoyed it.
