I loved the flow of the language in this play. It seemed easier to get into then some of Shakespeare's other works. Or maybe I am finally old enough to read and understand Shakespeare! I have mixed feelings about that.

Shakespeare's historical plays are my absolute least favorite ones. They tend to be far more dull and confusing than his other plays. I tried to elevate my reading experience by listening to the BBC's full cast audio production - which is brilliant - while reading along with the text. I also watched and read some analysis of the play. And yet short of a full classroom experience, this is a hard text to get into.

Literally finished it 5 minutes before Jonathan Bailey entered the stage.

this play went way harder than I ever expected it to go! I’m probably biased because I listened to an absolutely amazing audiobook version (Mr. Rupert Graves if you’re reading this you have God given talent and you killed that role) but man. this very possibly has the most beautifully written prose of any Shakespeare play I’ve ever read and I find its themes (of power and justice and monarchy and divine right to rule) to be so interesting. I dug it!

The leading story is the gardener's passage and no one can convince me otherwise.
