The first book in this series was one of the most intense books I have ever read. It also had a horrible cliffhanger, so I was incredibly glad when I got an e-mail with an arc so I could continue reading. Although the world in this book is incredibly cruel, it's also incredibly interesting and rich. I was therefore really excited to see more of the world, the characters and of course the impossible situation the characters are in.

The book picks up where the previous book ended and I was quite surprised how long it took for things to get better again for our characters. A lot of romance novels have the tendency to fix cliffhangers and issues as soon as possible, but this book didn't. Everything the characters had to endure in this book really fit the world we have gotten to know in the first book and the characters in positions of power we have met in the first book.

Since the world in this book is cruel and since we are spending a lot of time with the emperor in his castle, this book is quite heavy and intense, but in a good way. However, it's a really good idea to read the trigger warnings in this book and to really make sure you're okay with them. We all know that eventually things will get better for our characters, but it's clear that until then things can get a lot worse and will get worse.

Because once more Sinclair invented a horrible cliffhanger, but also a cliffhanger that made me really curious about the next book and what's waiting for our heroes and our heroine. I also hope that maybe our heroes might get a little plot for themselves. So far they mostly exist as love interests and everything they do is for our heroine, which is amazing and she deserves it, but I'd love her men to become more than that.

I have my fingers crossed!

Book 1 tore my heart out and book 2 may have just done the same thing. I must comment on the world building, it is amazing. Every good fantasy needs a complete world built around it, with rules and landmarks, this world is so well thought out and described, I can feel it. This is one of the most important things when it comes to true escapism in books. We revisit some familiar places, but the new places are just as well detailed. Safiya is such a great FMC, there is a lot of past trauma and abuse, but her men also have trauma and pasts that haunt them. The battles and action here are nee and the psychological battles are the most harrowing. With a truly evil bad guy and the people around him no better than sheep, it is a struggle for any kindness. I cannot wait to see what the conclusion is to this story but I must say, this is still one of my favourite series of the year!

ANOTHER BIG CLIFFHANGER!! Captured is the second book in the Inertia series. This automatically picks up where we left off from the first book. THIS SERIES IS SOOOOO GOOD! Safiya has been through some shi....stuff. Yet, she remains strong and resilient....even though her kidnapper is a psychopath. That is definitely some of my favorite traits in a heroine. I seriously decided that I NEED a Kestrel, Roan, Tristan, Mor, and Adrian in my life! These guys are so perfect for her. Very, very incredible world building and development!! Can't wait for the next book!!

Holy bananas! This book is absolutely an amazing second in the series. So much pain, desperation, and heartache soothed by love and patience. Safiya and the Lorem guys are a dynamic unit set in a world so vivid you’ll be lost to the words. Let on a heck of a cliff, but can’t wait for the next book in this dynamic series!
