I'm loving these books.
What's the bet that we are building up to Roger being the murderer of his wife in the last book? And being the "unknown" sporadic attempted murderer of Enzo. Changed his tactics now, hence pregnancy and marriage to Kirsty.

Such a good series, and this is another good mystery. Can't wait for #6!
"When France's top chef, Marc Fraysse, summoned the world's press to make a shattering announcement, rumors abounded that he was about to lose one of his three coveted Michelin stars. Instead, on arrival at his remote restaurant on a volcanic plateau in central France, they were greeted with the news that the troubled genius had been murdered, and the message he intended to deliver was never made. Seven years on, the identity of his killer also remains an enigma. Enzo Macleod takes on his fifth cold case and delves into the big business and high stakes of French haute cuisine. As winter sets in, and snow gathers along a volcanic horizon, he retraces long cold footsteps across a remote hilltop. But unravelling the complex web of relationships that surrounded the brilliant and mercurial chef - a spurned lover, a jealous wife, an estranged brother, an embittered food critic--also leads to strange parallels with his own life. And in opening up this celebrated cold case, he finds himself reopening old wounds from his past."

Excellent, as always. Love the methodical investigation.
Irresponsible hero amateur detective looks into a chef murder. He should get a vasectomy.
this was pretty ok, nothing to write home about though. i was so impressed with the first volume in this series, [b:Extraordinary People|3043530|Extraordinary People (The Enzo Files, #1)|Peter May|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1267731596s/3043530.jpg|3074175]; that's why this one was disappointing. but i'll probably return to this series again another time.

Read as part of a group read where we each took a book from this series no context. Had a great time reading it as it’s not something I’d normally pick up but I don’t think there’s a single woman introduced in this book who isn’t sexualised. Maybe Kirsty, his daughter. Not Sophie though, also his daughter. Fictional police HR departments must quake in their boots the amount of ill advised sleeping around Enzo gets up to / is alluded to have happened previously. And his family tree is fascinating - but not fascinating enough that I wanted it interrupting the climax of the murder mystery. Still, I enjoyed being right about the twists!
