Georgeann and John are a match made…somewhere. This book is adorable and the smut is great. If you like southern girls that look straight out of a porno and hockey players straight from a catalog then this book is for you. 5/5 smut

This was cute, I guess. I liked Georgeanne and rooted for her, but John didn't appeal to me. It's interesting to read a '90s romance novel in the #MeToo era. There were definitely cringeworthy moments.

This is enjoyable enough it wasn’t my favorite out of the ones in the series I’ve read so far. But still pretty good

This was a fun light-hearted rom-com runaway bride that starts off with a bang & has plenty of twists and turns to keep it interesting. While John is not the typical hero type I swoon over (big, muscular hockey player), his tender heart and fun banter make him appealing. Georgeann is initially helpless, naive, and flirty Southern girl, but her background as it is revealed provides the context for what might seem to be superficial traits. She also evolves and becomes stronger and of course, gets the happy ever after she deserves.

I don't know how far I am going to get in this series because I definitely wasn't impressed by this book.
I didn't like any of the characters. I found the way Georgie spoke irritating, Lexie was annoying rather than cute and I just didn't get the attraction between Georgie and John. It was like one minute they were full of lust, the next minute they hated each other and low and behold they are apparently in love by the end with no clue how they got to that stage.
I really wouldn't recommend you wasting your time by trying this book out. So many better books in this genre.

Listening to this book felt a little like you feel when your great friend calls you ecstatically to tell you all about her brand new AMAZING and EXCITING whirlwind romance. She is absolutely convinced that she has fallen madly in love and will love him forever and ever and ever, and she just can't stop gushing about the experience. And yet .... you just know in your heart that this is not going to end up well. That's how I felt about Simply Irresistible. This was an easy book to listen to. I can't really point to exactly what the problem was. It just felt off. I couldn't muster up any enthusiasm for this couple, no matter how excited the narrator made their love to be. I cannot figure out why or how Georgie and John fell in love. I get why they got together in the first place. His big broad hockey-playing shoulders were oh so gorgeous, and she was oh so curvy. That's about it. (Weird side note ... it was EXTREMELY disturbing to read how Georgie believed she had fallen in love with John after a day of hanging out with a brooding and unkind man. Why? It made no sense at all. I didn't feel happy for her. I thought it was an example of how immature and insecure and dysfunctional she was as a character ... but maybe that was the point. I don't know.) Then, in my opinion, John was a complete and utter jerk, tossing Georgie to the curb ... literally. Seven years pass, and John happens upon Georgie, who is not the insecure and hapless woman she had been when he last saw her. She owns a successful business ... and is the mother to a six year old child ... John's child. Surprise! This new revelation throws them together again, and a whole bunch of bickering ensues. This bickering goes on forever, but it isn't that cute sort of bickering in books like this that weirdly begin to make you root for a relationship. It's just annoying. John was annoying. How could he not see that he was a jerk all those years ago? How does he not see his role in the circumstances in which he finds himself? I'm not a John fan. Sorry. Anyway, all of this culminates in a sudden and unexplained realization that John truly loves Georgie. Why?????? What had changed? Nothing had changed. Hooray for happy endings ... but I have a feeling that if there were a second epilogue to this story it would be at the end of a messy and expensive custody hearing that involved a bunch of yelling and screaming. Three stars for this one. I liked it ... but I didn't ever really get on board with the overall story.
Post note: The narration of this book is quite good. The narrator does a really great Southern accent for Georgie that totally brought out her character. Her narration was the best part of the experience listening to the story.
