I loved this! The love story was great don’t get me wrong but my favorite part was the family of the Feral Kingdom. A kingdom made up of thieves and liars but their loyalty was so amazing! That part made this whole book for me. They were hilarious and lovable even though they were all deadly!

I did find this entertaining but my main criticism is that it felt very repetitive from the first two books in this series. So many character attributes and situations felt like I had just read them in The Ever King/Queen. Skadi is a character you can absolutely cheer for and care about but she has a lot of overlap with both Erik and Livia. The story follows a VERY similar arc.
I think if you can’t get enough of this world absolutely continue with the series because you will get what you loved in the first two. I also think if you like Radiance by Grace Draven this is a book you will enjoy but it is darker.
My other gripe with this book is that in a world of mutilated bodies being desirable, kindness and aid to those with dyslexia, female empowerment, queer rep and stuttering endearing characters I was absolutely thrown for a loop when the MMC mocks the villain with heightism!?! Like WTF. We’re told he’s a foot shorter and MMC calls him “little one” to mock him. Never did I expect this world to perpetuate the unfair belittling of people with a shorter stature. Just like dyslexia it’s not like people can help their genetic height! Let’s stop with this cheap shot.
Spoiler
Parental loss at a young age, afraid of her magic, body trauma, uncaring guardians, being taken from one world to the other without say, falling quickly, being attacked a lot, found family/home.I think if you can’t get enough of this world absolutely continue with the series because you will get what you loved in the first two. I also think if you like Radiance by Grace Draven this is a book you will enjoy but it is darker.

I have a new favorite L.J. Andrews book, again. I thought The Ever Queen was the peak of The Ever Seas with feral Livia, and I was just mistaken. It is now a close second. I don't know how I am going to survive the next 16 months until The Stolen Crown. While TMT has a lot of the same tropes as TEK it just does it at a deeper level. I think I was getting whiplash every time I thought we we're at our promised HEA only for my heart to ride another roller coaster. I lost many hours of sleep because I just wanted to know what would happen next and who would dare try to come between these two. If you are reading this and have not read TEK and TEQ I definitely recommend both before TMT for ultimate understanding, but if not definitely read after.
This story is the definition of from different worlds. It's beautiful to see Skadi grow so much during this book. Her character was one of my favorite in TEQ. Sometimes I wanted to reach into the book and shake some sense into her, but the more you learn about her life, the more you understand why she is the way she is. L.J. Andrews continues to give her characters the most fitting pet names for each other and I know that some people don't like them, but I don't care I love them. Please don't stop. It's such a strong showing of affection between two people. As always, all the side characters just add so much to this story and the world-building is top notch. Anyone else's favorite kingdom The Eastern Kingdom? Also the art included is just an additional star all on its own. I had to keep opening them on my phone to take in the beauty in full color.
