i love how they all love each other so dearly

Me encantaron los relatos. La gran habilidad de Bram Stoker es que sabe meterte en un ambiente como angustiante en el que siempre estás expectante de qué va pasar.

Listened to Elisa from Vampire Reviews read this and break down the history of the story and its parallels to other vampire fiction and Stoker's own novel. Fascinating look at an early form of a well-known story. (And I definitely recommend watching the Vampire Reviews video!)

Ein verworfenes Kapitel des großen Klassikers. Nett, jedoch mit Blick auf das große Ganze tatsächlich eher zu vernachlässigen. 6,25/10.

Good Lordie, & I thought Bram was long winded in Dracula!

The story Dracula's Guest would have made an excellent Prologue to Dracula & I do recommend it!

Otherwise he somehow made short stories feel VERY long, haha.
Several of the stories had decent bones but overall i think they just didn't age well (lots of feinting women, lots of dramatic stubbornness, etc).
I imagine, at the time, several of these stories were 'scary' or 'startling' but most of them were passable at best.

This feels like a written version of a movie trailer. It’s too short to be a short story and there’s consensus that it was supposed to be included in Dracula. Was it just a note? It’s too beautifully written not to be the first chapter of Dracula.

Well this just emphasizes Harker's stupidity even more than the first chapters of Dracula proper did. I understand why this was cut, it's awfully uneventful and wordy to be a prologue that would work.

A good read but not near as captivating as the original Dracula.

Audiobook.
