ugh. not a fan at all.
i listened to the audio version, and it didn’t have the same magic as something in the water. the story wasn’t that good. it dragged on and on and on and i couldn’t wait for it to be over. the ending wasn’t satisfying in the least.

Okay so I really enjoyed the psychology and science behind it—because it was well researched. I did not enjoy the end of it. Like the first half, great. The second half, wished there was a better explanation.

So disappointing. The further I read, the more I disliked it.

There are great stories. And then there is well written fiction. Sometimes you get both, but this isn't one of those times.

So I'm going to jump around.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING HOLY STOP WRITING IN LOVE INTERESTS!!! It's not necessary, makes me upset because no one likes insta-love, and it was pointless. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I also didn't like how "Matthew's" story was just very small one he said what was going on. I wanted to know more, it just felt rushed.

I did enjoy a lot about this book. I enjoy that Catherine narrates her audio books. I really think she does an amazing job and just makes me feel as though I am watching a movie. I feel the emotions she intended. I like her writing, mostly. I know everyone compares her stories to gone girl, but I can compare many stories to similar ones out there.

I really enjoyed this "read" on my Libby app.

It’s not Tolstoy. But it was entertaining. You’ll have to suspend your disbelief a few times.

I really liked all the neuro psych/medical parts of this story but that ending though…. 2.5 stars rounded up

First comes the enthusiasm of knowing you’re in great hands as this intriguing book opens and develops with a fascinating setting and situation- followed by the sinking realization that it’s going awry.
Enormous respect to Catherine Steadman for this thrilling premise and character. I think the same experience held true for me in “Something In The Water”. I don’t enjoy the tropes of “the wrap-up” in this genre, when the action and motivations spin out.
I think I’ll choose to forget the last third of these books and just revel in the setting, the mood, and the subject matter. I’ve enjoyed fan-fictioning my own more satisfying ending but I’m sure it’s not better.
Can’t wait for the next one Ms. Steadman. Kudos.

This book took a bit to get into and it wasn't until the 50% that it really picked up and was enjoyable for me. There were so many twists and turns I didn't see coming which was great, it keep me on my toes. There was just too much detail and the flow was off for the first half. I really enjoyed the last but the epilogue/end need a bit more to end with, it just feel flat as well.
I think I was a little disappointed since her first book was wonderful. I don't read a lot of thrillers, so for me this was enough "thrill" but I'm guessing others will see it as lacking.

Overall, I give it 3.5 stars!

Thanks Netgalley, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
