This one didn’t keep me as intrigued as Something in the Water.

Steadman has created a villain unlike any other. There's a touch of the Twilight Zone here. This whole scheme is not quite believable or easy to follow.

Part of the problem is that the historical parts of this novel were told matter-of-factly. If they had been presented in another way--as excerpts from the famous doctor's case files, or even as a straight omniscient narrator's account--there could have been more impact.

Hmmmm. That's been my "thoughtful intellectual" reaction since I finished listening to Catherine Steadman's second book, Mr. Nobody, for the past few hours. Hmmmm. Really? I mean, this book built up so well. It has everything: Your sexy young smart female psychiatrist with a secret hidden past, a loving brother, a great career in the works, a mystery case of amnesia, high visibility, potential government secret work, possible military involvement, and agency-like assignment of the case to our sexy psychiatrist. Our mystery man, Mr. Nobody, remembers nothing, and acts like a hero and gains the affection of nurses and Emma Lewis, his doctor, our psychiatrist, and off we go, together, on this crazy good ride, with Emma's side of the story, and her dilemma between what she sees in the patient and what she might be imagining, how much to reveal and how much to keep to herself, and a past that keeps haunting her. It was SO GOOD, and I had all kinds of predictions, all kinds, and yet, the ending, I have decided, is a definite letdown. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Catherine Steadman. I enjoyed Something in the Water and I felt she really pulled that off. But with Mr. Nobody, I felt this huge letdown, albeit, she gave us an adrenaline-rushed ending, but I did not like the ending. Still, the writing is so good, she is such a good storyteller, that I'd read anything else she writes, and not care how badly it ends. Perhaps that was the more realistic ending than my fantastical notions anyway.

Meh. There are far too many better “thriller” books to be read. There weren’t any real twists and turns...it was blah.

2.5; I was disappointed that this wasn't more of a thriller, and my eyebrows were raised so high at some points.

Wow. Wow. Wow. I loved Ms. Steadman's first novel "Something in the Water" and was so excited when I heard she had another book coming out. Needless to say, Mr. Nobody did not disappoint. There were many times I thought I had the plot figured out and something would come up that would make me question my theory - which was wrong up until the very end. This story was truly amazing and I'm already sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for Ms. Steadman's next novel.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Books for the eARC.
