This is the beginning of an interesting series. I look forward to reading the next one.

Smut to plot ratio is skewed. The heroine needs to seek medical advice regarding her twinging womb. Also Merinus is a whack ass name.

I read this book because I had heard a lot about it from reviewers on this site that I follow. Initially it looked OK but I didnt enjoy it half as much as I thought I would!

Merinus is on the trail of the elusive Callun Lyons for her father (and much to the disproval of her brothers). The first real introduction we get to Callun he is playing with himself in the sun for no other reason than he knows it will annoy her (and to describe to the readers how insanely hot he is and how big his penis is.....shockingly!). Now I had no illusions when I picked up this book that it was an erotic novel - I just didnt really expect us to get down to it in the first chapter! There was no real reason for this particular smexy scene therefore it lowered my expectations for the rest of the story - I prefer my smut with some sort of emotional reason or some sort of lust build up at least - this had neither. Anyhow we find out that Callun is the leader of the Breeds -a pack of various cat-shifters that came into being because of a government funded military project. We also discover that a)the breeds just want to be left alone. During their time with the military they were subjected to torture and humilation and treated as tools. B) the governemnt has no intention of leaving them alone and keeps sending hunters to find them. All in all this is a good premise to a book its just the emotion never really imbedded into the tale for me so I didnt really care less about their story. merinus wants to help the breeds be safe from the government (with her father and brothers)but before she can she goes into "heat" because of Calluns pheromones which leads to pages and pages of sex scenes (never going to complain about that :D)

The book really never caught me. The sex scences were hot and well written but I got all of the emotional investment I would from a short story rather than a novella. It wont be a re-read but I will give the next book a try to see if it gets any better.

This one was very difficult to review. I just think this one was not my type of genre.
