Quite liked this book. Lots of foundational principles that were well stated. I found Section III on Healthy tensions to be particularly good but then that is how I tend to view most biblical ideas, as parallel truths. The ideas and applications and suggestions he puts forth are rather numerous. There is risk of becoming so overwhelmed by it all and becoming too analytical that it is hard to simply engage in worship. It is like learning to perfect a golf shot and there are fifty variables that all contribute - it is possible to overthink and see the quality of one's shot actually deteriorate. I suppose it is best to consider which of the many fine ideas in the book God is pressing upon me as priority matters to address.

This book proved itself to be inspiring and practical. It is logically structured. Bob Kauflin has also helpfully included illustrations from personal experience and in particular how his own views have been moulded by the years, by the pastors with whom he has served and the Lord.
He has managed to make the application wider than the particular church in which he worships and serves and showed great sensitivity to other traditions.
That which was less satisfactory were
his early questioning of the validity and helpfulness of the term worship leader was not reflected the rest of the book for he continued to use the term
sandwiched between the 'worship leader's' relationship with the church and pastor (which were broadly applicable) lay a section on the relationship with the team which I felt was too focussed on his setting
These are minor quibbles about the book which has been great to read and which I highly recommend.

This book was able to cover sooo many details about why we worship through music, how we lead worship and even the relationships you need to build as worship leaders. This is a book every worship leader needs to read and read again.

A great starting point for learning how to worship more authentically and biblically.

Really good and covered a lot of ground--from broad scope to details. I had a few theological differences with him (but just a half star's worth). There were other parts that didn't pertain to my smaller church situation very well, so I didn't enjoy them much either. All in all: 4 stars.

This is a good read for anyone who plays music in church. I found it helpful simply to be made more aware of the importance of the task of leading the congregation in corporate worship.

This book is good for anyone wanting to learn more about worship. I read it as a first-read as a new music director at my church and it has some good tips on making sure that I'm doing this right! Very encouraging and informative on theology and doctrine.
