Yep. 2.5 stars
It simply was not for me.
It is a really sweet and funny read. I liked the humour but it definitely wasn't of the lol-kind. The heroine was too self-deprecating for my liking. I mean, yeah - laugh about yourself, be self-ironic, but please NOT ONLY!
The romance is merely hinted at and develops mostly during the last 60 pages.
I would recommend it, when you are in the mood to read about a charmingly funny family and want a book that is not centered around the romantic couple only. Lots of friendship, mother- and sisterhood and odd pets to be had in this one :)!

Okay so this book is readable if you haven't read Playing James but at times you can feel like you're missing something.
Not a bad book in general, it had it's funny moments but I felt like Sam and Clemmie's relationship could have been built up more. The mystery plot was okay but it dipped in and out a bit much. However this is a quick book to read so if you see it in the library, it might be okay to grab.

Cute read. But, I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first of her books. I thought Party Girl was much better.

I enjoyed Sarah Mason's "Playing James" but this one fell flat for me. The character development was lacking, certain plot points were repeated at so many times it was like being hit on the head with a brick yet some aspects of the story seemed to lack much buildup.
I forced myself to finish mainly because I wanted to confirm that what seemed predictable was indeed going to happen (it did.)

Not as enjoyable as her first book, Playing James, but I did enjoy the main character, Clemmie. She and Holly are so like me that I found I could put myself in their shoes, but they still had personalities. And the antics that occur and her siblings are just so great.
Still, it just kinda lacked the spirit I loved so much in her previous book.
