I think that this book could do with another round of editing as many of the word choices or phrasing in the book struck me as odd.  Otherwise, I thought it was very fun.  When I got about 2/3 of the way through I was shocked where we were and confused how it was going to end in just 100 pages, but I think the ending was very satisfying and it made me tear up a little.

Gallant took me by the wrist, whispered to me while I slept, and held me in the dark. I'll carry it with me now always.

I probably would have liked it more if I read it at 15. But I'm 19 and felt a bit "too old" for this book. Not saying it was bad at all ! Some characters were cute, I was just never that attached to them. Most of the plottwists were really easy to guess so yeah. Good book. Not for me tho.

Gallant was generally a pretty decent read. The overarching mystery was interesting, if a bit predictable, and the characters were well-written. My biggest issue with this book was that its brevity and fast pace kept me from getting fully immersed, but I don't particularly think it would have benefitted from being longer either.

It's a claustrophobic work with beautiful writing and interesting characters.
I didn't find the conclusion of the story satisfying enough to justify the rest of the book.
The narrator did a wonderful job, even if I don't understand why it was a man.

This is more of a middle grade than a YA story. Be aware of that when starting this book.

This is a short book with some ilusstrations

I loved that the representation of someone who can't speak. But, I didn't enjoy this story that much. I was bored and read this really slow. I was debating to DNF but something kept me going. It was atmospheric, eerie and creepy, but I still should have DNFd this one.
