I felt drawn to Scott Cunningham as he has lots of books and is also a male witch and seemed to have a practical voice I relate to. This book is a lot more practical and useful than Bucklands, I was too new to know better when I reviewed that one. It gave me some better insight into ritual. It has easy and understandable recipes for incense, unlike the very complicated incense book I never finished reading. It's a very good reference to have on hand.

Visualization (which is bunk) wrapped up in magical garb.

Another decent starting text to learn about Wicca and build foundational knowledge. This book actually has a mini Book of Shadows within for those who aren't sure how to begin practicing magic. Scott Cunningham does a great job of informing the reader that they should feel free to alter the rituals/incantations as needed to better suit their own practice. All around a great beginning text!

I'll honestly say I only made it halfway through the book before I got too irritated and had to put it down. I had intended to learn about Wicca, but instead I feel like the author just made up what he thought was a combination of archaeological and anthropological generalizations, wrapped them up in a combination of pagan traditions, and put a bow on it he called Wicca. Yeah, good try, Mr. Cunningham. I'm not convinced this is a thing. I'm not even convinced this is what other Wiccans believe. It was really hard to tell, because this was such a subjective writing style.

Not keen on following any magic guidance from someone who steals from closed practices and tries to pass them off as his own
