this was literally c. reilly’s Sweet Temptation in different font … why am i reading about Cassio and Giulia again but not the same

I really wanted to like this but...

The story is fine I guess but the problems I had with this book were at times it felt like I was getting unnecessary information and then at other times it felt like I was missing pieces of the story like there wasn't enough relationship building like one moment they would be on bad terms and the next they would be on good terms. But how did we get there. Also the MMC treated the FMC like trash for 80% of the book and if he wasn't treating her like trash, he was treating her like a hole to sleep with. There wasn't an ounce of groveling from the MMC. The FMC just forgives him after he does something terrible and even begs to sleep with him.

Look I'll tell you this. I have NEVER dnf'd a book before or even felt like after the fact that I should have dnf'd it. That was until I read this book. I should have dnf'd this book at 5%. This book should have never made it on my TBR. I won't read anything by this author again based on this writing style.

This got me out of my reading slump. Although I wish some sections went more in depth. I think the MFC should have had a stronger backbone since that’s how she was portrayed

I enjoyed reading this book . Loved the age gap between Lorenza and anni. I can see why things were so rocky between them. Lorenzo so grumpy and uptight being an underboss and then Anni the care free young and smart 20 yr old. There was so much chemistry between them and oodles of steam. I loved how anni proved herself . Their story was indeed full of secrets , betrayal and discoveries. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for book 2.

This book was a TikTok recommendation, and I’m sad to say I was disappointed. The characters had no chemistry and the writing felt very clunky. It drove me nuts how Lorenzo referred to his kids as “the children” all of the time. It felt unattached and impersonal. Lorenzo and Anni were basically strangers and their relationship didn’t ever really get better. There was no spark. When you felt like their chemistry was going to get better it just got awkward again.

I really wanted to like it but I just could not get into it.
