Kinda average. Honestly had zero stakes in the story and had a hard time keeping characters straight.

Just as high school Winter Break begins for Sophie, she overhears her boyfriend's comment about his unhappiness with their relationship, this sets Sophie's world spinning and it's up to her family to help her. The one word I would use to describe this book is heartfelt. My favorite character is Nonna; she suggests setting Sophie up on 10 blind dates to get her over her boyfriend (Elston 38). Also, Nonna helps Sophie when she arrives at Nonna's house completely devastated by her break up (18-20). To emphasize this point, Papa explains his wife to Sophie: "This is exactly what I would expect from your grandmother. She is such a romantic. And she just wants everyone around her to be happy. Her heart was as broken as yours when she found you on the front steps" (Elston 53). Ultimately, Nonna unconditionally loves Sophie. For example, Nonna finds the last blind date, but through her love for Sophie, she allows Sophie to choose her date: "Tonight it's your choice. Two of these tickets are for you and your date. Have a wonderful time" (Elston 315). The intended audience would be any young adult who is looking for a warm Christmas story about family and hope. I recommend curling up and sinking into this novel, you won't regret it!

I told myself that I wouldn’t cave to the onslaught of holiday themed books this year, as they usually end up being good… but not great reads - just filler and ambience. Which is great, but this year the many acclaimed books on my TBR are calling to me something FIERCE.
Alas, the chatter about this back list title, Ten Blind Dates, was too adorable to resist! Especially when it was available on my library’s shelves. And I’m glad I caved. Sure, the happy ending was entirely predictable from the jump and the plot was far fetched, but the big family dynamics and cute banter  won me over, as well as the Louisiana details that gave such a great sense of place.
If you are looking for a cozy, feel good book to read in a day, this definitely fit the bill for me!

There were definitely a lot of people to keep track of but the important ones were easy to know. This was cute and fun and exactly what I needed in this crazy pandemic time.

3.5 rounded up to 4.
I liked this book! Loved the representation of a difficult pregnancy in the older sister. Overall, cute fluffy romance set during Christmas with a big, slightly chaotic family.
Spoiler contains cursing, mentions of teenage sex, kissing, and dating
