This is not a book I would have randomly picked up, but read it because it is on my daughter's summer reading list. I was very moved by this book. It is a true story written by a girl from Afghanistan about her life prior and during the al-Qaeda occupation and her eventual escape from that country. It is so moving and relevant, because it is her words, emotions and experiences. Even though it is written by a young author, adults can still take something away from her story.
