Though the novel is quite long and the storyline was stretched a bit, I enjoyed the novel with the twists and changes in direction. The plot was well worked and the characters with their personalities made you think about where the truth lay.

A tricky one to review. The narrator was clearly spoken and yet had an odd rhythm which sometimes made it difficult to appreciate the words or who was speaking. I put the speed to 1.2 which helped. The story is very twisty and you need to really pay attention- I almost gave up a couple of times but once I arranged the cast of characters in my head it got easier to follow the many threads. As a story, I really enjoyed the premise and the turns the threads took. Overall I’d probably give this a 3.75!

Family secrets and plot twist abound in this highly entertaining, though deliberately paced historical set in Victorian England.

I loved this book - I usually enjoy Goddard but this one especially had a lot of twists and turns in it, leading to a shocking dark secret that you never would have guessed at, which I love. Well worth reading/listening to.

Actually it's more 3.5 and take into account that I don't give 4s easily. It's totally recommended for people who enjoy plot especially with lots of twists.
