A reasonably good read. I wish I knew more about Harry Hole's background, the events that are referred to multiple times in this book. The beginning was a bit slow, but everything picked up towards the end. Will definitely read more by this author.

Great book! I really like this author and have come to really enjoy Harry Hole. I started reading this just a few minutes a night before bed, so my attention was not all there. I was a bit confused at first about jumping between 1940 something and 1990 or whatever, but I did focus a little more and caught on. Interesting twists and turns, and a good development of character. I cannot wait to read more Nesbo/Hole books!

I'd love it if men could write women that weren't extensions of/ reflections of them.

Also, this book made no goddamn sense and was too long.

Four stars. I will definitely be reading more of Jo Nesbo's work. I did find some of the threads of the storyline confusing at first but they came together in the end -- with a few loose ends to deal with in future books.

too long. especially when the ending felt awfully convenient. if I'm gonna read 150 pages before it even gets INTERESTING, then Jo nesbo could at least go out of his way a little.
