this book was such a journey! i had so many feelings, mainly heartbreak for this poor little girl. The characters were all so unique and added to the story. The switching between past and present was timed very well, really adding to the dramatic effect and eliciting some of the big emotions attached to this story.

Absolutely beautiful story of heartbreak and survival. I don't want to give anything away but I found this to be one of the most inspiring transformations to witness of a protagonist in any recent book that I've read. Surprisingly wholesome when it comes down to it.

I LOVED “And Then She Was Gone” so I decided to pick up another Lisa Jewell. This book was really hard to get into, I felt as if there were TOO many characters, TOO many switchbacks and I just couldn’t keep up with who, what, where, when and then the WHY seems to come when you have about 30 pages left. I was just very underwhelmed reading this book after ATSWG so maybe my expectations were too high and influenced how I felt about this book.

All in all, it was a solid 2 for me. I wish I could get the Tim back that it took me to read it because it was just very anticlimactic and hard to follow. I just wish there was ~m o r e~

I love Lisa Jewell, so I was a little disappointed that I didn't love this one. It is one of her earlier works, and both the premise and the beginning of the book were great. I just really had a hard time believing Melody's relationship with her parents, and it annoyed me too much to enjoy the end.
