I loved the descriptions of the countryside, the jungle etc. But there was a real lack of character descriptions so they never fully formed in my head. Took me 80 pages to start to get invested and then it swapped to another set of people. Just never found myself wanting to pick it up again.

I think this is everything I wanted 'The Stationary Shop' to be. The writing is vivid and beautiful, and the characters felt real. I will be reading anything else this author puts out in the future.
