I was hoping to like this book, however, I was just over all bored. I was hoping I would like it better after some time, but even though I finished it I just couldn't get into the book.

Strange story and I tend to enjoy supernatural novels. Never felt attached to the characters and emotional connection never really made either.

The Anton Yelchin and Willem Dafoe movie was pretty faithful to the book, with a couple of omissions for brevity. I enjoyed both!

This was an awesome read. I totally enjoyed following along on Odd's adventure. Mr. Koontz pulled a few fast ones on me in this one, things that I did not see coming. I think that Odd is one of Koontz's most enjoyable characters. There were many very likeable characters in this book, and the pace was well timed, there were times that I couldn't stop reading until late in the night.I will be getting the rest of the series soon !

After all of Brett's glowing reviews of Dean Koontz books, I had to give this series a try. I thought maybe it would be OK since it was written later than the horrible books Brett has been reading.
And in fact, the first half is pretty good. Quite good. It's exciting, it's engrossing, it has a reasonably intriguing (if not original) conceit, of a sort of grown-up Haley Joel "I see dead people" Osment. With some possible demons/parallel universe critters thrown in.
After a (again, pretty good) plot twist, though, it all goes to hell. LITERALLY. Well, not literally, actually. But the last third of the book so ridiculously stupid, which is extra annoying after such a strong start. After all the weird creepy ookiness at the beginning of the book you find out that... they're Satanists. The bad guys are just a completely flat, uninteresting, unrealistic band of Satanists who want to kill people just 'cause. And there is NO way to figure out who they are from anything that's in the story. There is no "Aha!" moment - just an "Oh... there is no way I could have figured that out" moment.
Too bad.
Unfortunately, there are still some mysteries left at the end of the book so I suppose I shall have to read the next one.

I didn't enjoy the first couple of pages cause I couldn't get a grasp on the narrative, but once I understood better what was going on, I started to really get into Odd Thomas. The story is told in a weird fashion that is much lighter than its content should allow, but interestingly that's actually a part of the story. It's not perfect, but I think those who enjoy crime novels and similar reads will appreciate Odd Thomas.

This is a reread for me after having read most of the series when I was a teen. I enjoyed it even more now than I did then. Also coming back knowing what happens really only made it better and appreciate each little hint towards the end more.
I did however cry like a baby at the end even knowing Stormy’s fate. I’m not upset by that tho, part of the point of art is to move you :)

I picked this up on a whim. I've never read a book by Koontz before this.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked the first person perspective, I don't read enough books written like this. I enjoyed the unreliable narration, Odd even warns you at the beginning that he is an unreliable narrator and I was still surprised when the story shifted just before the end. I think that the ghosts not speaking audibly is a really nice change of pace from other mediums that get more blatant clues or overly mysterious omens.
I'll admit when I called Koonz a "dirty bastard" but I meant that in a really affectionate way (yes really).
