It tells a lot about the period, and really shows how easily people will throw you under a bus for survival, but I kinda wish there was some kind of justice for Boule de Suif.

Kulička se mi líbila moc, ale ostatní povídky v knize byly spíše průměrné, nic moc mi neřekly. Kromě Kuličky mě zaujaly jen povídky Šperk a Coco.

Primer "libro" que leo de este autor. Maupassant critica la hipocresía de las personas respecto a su patria, como los franceses proclamaban le amor por su patria y como harían lo que sea por ella, pero cuando llegaba el momento parecía que esas personas se olvidaban de todas esas palabras y solo hacían lo que les convenía. Habla de la guerra de los franceses contra Prusia. Sobre la hipocresía de las personas, pero esta vez, critica la hipocresía de los nobles, tratan bien a una persona cuando les conviene y cuando han acabado con lo que quieren la olvidan.

En la novela se encuentra todo tipo de personajes, unas monjas, personas ricas y codiciosas, prostitutas, borrachos, etc.

This is one of the most relatable short-story Classics I have ever read. It also has details of the Franco-Prussian war that Guy de Maupassant would have witnessed first-hand, as it was an event he lived through. Fascinating.
