It seems possible that the 21st book in the series wasn’t the best place to start from.
This entire book takes place in one day and it’s more than 500 pages. It wasn’t bad I just felt confused by a lot of the plot and writing choices

I liked the mystery, suspense, and intrigue in the book, but struggled with the simplistic writing. The prose reuse hackneyed phrases that add little value. Characters are one dimensional archetypes. The story shocks, but is only surface level.

I was evidently setting myself up for a loss by reading this after reacquainting myself with Patrcia Cornwell's earlier works (which are fantastic) because this was just plain bad. I was so confused when I reached page 50 and already I was contemplating not finishing when normally I can finish her books within a few hours. I think I'll make a point of avoiding her newest books.

The Scarpetta we know and love is back! I truly enjoyed this book and am glad that Cornwell is reconnecting with who Scarpetta is and is giving us insight into this incredibly complex character. I can't wait for #22!

There have been a lot of negative reviews of this book but I found that this book helped tie things together and refresh the readers memories of past events. I have come to the conclusion that these books are meant to draw out the personal side of death and not so much the analytical process of a medical examiner.

I really wasn't in to the characters and there story line..
The book was hard to read because there was no connection between the book and me.
In the end the story itself about the murder was alright but predictable,
wich doens't mean that it was bad but just that it could have been better..
Xx ZomieReader..

I know I need to stop reading these, but after you have invested so much in a relationship, it is hard to walk away. I could whine about the specifics of my disappointment, but I will spare you. But you can always message me if you wish to commiserate! Edit: I forgot to mention that the references to the tragedy in Connecticut were cheap. Do I get that the real Kay might very well have been called there? Yup I do, but this is fiction...Kay is not real, and real tragedy has no place here.
