I read several reviews that said that people either love or hate this book. Just consider me the loud and proud middle ground. I liked it. Although I didn't think it was brilliant, I enjoyed the writing style and the premise, and it did get me quite pleasantly through several bus rides and that's good enough for me.

Loved the concept of the book and the story line, just hated the language. Minus the language, I would have given it 4 stars.

Me gustó *spoiler alert*:

Another re-read to end 2023, I thought the brilliance of this book might have dulled in the years since I first read & fell in love with it years ago - yet I was still weeping at the end.
The characterisation and heart of this book still make it one of my favourites, and re-reading it felt like catching up with old friends. I love the influence Hardy has on the book and the parallels between Em & Dex and Bathsheba & Gabriel. Also love reading anything set in Edinburgh - instant magic.
