I absolutely loved the tv show on Netflix, so I decided to give the book a go. I was actually quite disappointed. I found the characters unlikable at first, pretentious and annoying. But I still read it till the end. I discovered how the series was loyal to the book. But each time the main characters interacted, I just didn’t see any chemistry or reason for them to like each other. But the individual development of both characters was interesting. Sadly, I just couldn’t help rolling my eyes at times when they got together.
For those who hesitate between the book and the adaptation, I’d say go for the latter.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The concept is very unique and made it a very entertaining book. While I have read other books which focus on a singular day, those days normally have a sentinmental reason for that particular day, but what I liked about this book is that there wasn’t a specific reason it was just a snapshot in time.

One of my friends put it beautifully, this book explores love in different ways and circumstances, and this was a really good lens to look at this story through.

I found the first 30% a little boring and hard to get into, but from that point on I had such an affinity to the characters and what was happening in their lives, I just constantly wanted to be reading.

This book has long chapters which is a bit of a book ick for me, but I could understand why this book had them and look past it mostly.

Love a book that makes me feel things 🫶🏼

Anyway, overall a very good read and I am currently enjoying the TV adaptation of it!

I was going to give this book a 2.5 rating, but (spoiler)
Emma dying caught me so off guard
that I gave it an extra 0.5.

The first half of this book was like listening to someone tell me the plot of this book. Actually, scratch that. The first half of this book felt like I was watching someone explain the plot to someone else. In other terms, not very good. If I didn’t have a thing against putting books down on purpose, I would have stopped reading.

Once we stopped playing the fun game of “for how many chapters can Dexter be drunk?”, it got better. Not much, but enough for me to finish it. I don’t know, it just wasn’t that good. Great concept, not great execution.

Read it if you want, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you are that bored.
