Welp... this will have to go into my DNF list. For some reason, it just doesn’t grab me like, at all. The premise sounded good, but I got to Ben and then my mind just went... “nope. Not feeling this story at all” so instead of slogging through it or simply turning the pages reading a word here and there, I closed it.

It’s one of those “it’s not the book, it’s me” sort of thing. I don’t feel it.

~ 3.5 Fall Into Darkness Stars ~

Fall Into Darkness is book one in the Eternally Mated series by Valerie Twombly. This is a satisfactory start to the series. We get surprises, action, sultry romance, and a new spin on Angel’s.

Ashley is a unique women. I felt for her and her unique ability. She has always felt out of touch with those around her and is hinder by her curse (as she feels it is) in making real connections with people. Her ability has left her seeking solitude, but deep down she wants to know why she has this ability and who she truly is.

Eli is a Hunter Angel and does not care much for humanity. He is so bad! A rebel, stubborn, and alpha. All the things we love our male leads to be. His disobedience gets him into trouble. He finds himself striped of his wings and needing to find his humanity. All of this is perfectly timed for him to meet Ashley when she needs him the most.

The plot is intriguing and laid out nicely with many surprises and gripping things happening that I was kept on my toes wondering what is next. The world building was not big, with the main focus given to describing and introducing us to the Angel’s. The author did such a fantastic job on her Angels in portraying all the different kinds, what is happening to them, and how their society is structured. It was all so unique, different, and new to me. The relationship between Ashley and Eli is sensual from the get go and only gets hotter as you go along. I never bought into the love, maybe because the relationship felt rushed, but you do feel their lust and attraction for each other, which is astronomical.

Fall Into Darkness has a lot to enjoy in this new world created by Ms. Twombly. It’s a fast-paced, exciting and engaging read. The story will continue into book two and I’m curious to see where the author will take us.

Its official I have a new book boyfriend and he's an angel....no seriously he's an angel! The main characters Eli a hunter angel and Ashley a woman who can see your death just by looking into your eyes....everything goes out the door. Its not as simple as good and evil in the world we think we know. When your very soul is on the line and love is a rik you never thought you'd take, how do you know what you're doing is right? Written with enough detail you leave you wanting more but never so much that you want to abandon the book. I loved everything about this book and cannot wait to see what happens next. Now if you'll excuse me while I go try and fit the pieces of my heart back together due to the ending of this book hitting me right in the feels. I voluntarily chose to review a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Valerie has s a way of describing everything that is so visual, you see it all playing in your head like a movie. This story gives you an intriguing twist on angels and the order of things. Eli is a bounty hunter who takes it upon himself to kill the rogue angels instead of returning them to the Tribunal Seven for judgement. He has also lost his faith in humanity, so the Tribunal decides to punish him. They remove his wings and send him to earth, giving him 30 days to find his humanity. He's dropped in the middle of Alaska, where the lovely Ashley is being attacked by hellhounds. She has the ability to see death in people's eyes, so she's trying to seclude herself from others so she doesn't see the disturbing images any more. Eli is able to help her uncover the secret to her ability. Lots of things to love in this story. If you read the short version in Love Least Expected, this really adds more to the story, but I found myself wanting more. I never get enough.
What you will be angry at: The end. Where the story ends will have you throwing things, yelling at your e-reader, and cursing the heavens that there isn’t more… yet. I can’t wait to see more of Eli and Ashley’s story. This is a must-read. You might get angry at the end, but it’s a must-read.

This started off so well. I was so hopeful it was going to be my type of book... but as I kept reading it all started to fall apart.

The story itself was a great idea. The writing was done really well and still kept me hooked but it was the pace of the story that ruined it for me. It all moved too fast to be realistic. Too many big reveals were all happening all at once, some would have even really good cliffhangers to use in a following book. It was like the author wasn't gonna get another chance at taking her time to slowly unravel the mystery and had to get everything all out at the same time within the same breathe.

I would have liked the story to have slowed down a bit and really let the reader stay in mystery for a little while longer. It felt rushed, making the characters' relationships come across as unbelievable, forced and even feel like insta-love.

Otherwise the story idea is a good one and I could see where it's going. :)

Happy reading!!

So much potential

I am in love with the story line. But the characters are falling flat for me. I don’t feel any connection between them at all.

This was just an okay read. Nothing stood out, not the story line, nor the characters. It was too formulaic and cookie cutter for me to want to read more in the series.
