Brilliant passages about the strained relationship between a mother and daughter and the fear of becoming the person who caused you trauma. But it was about 150 pages too long.

I had a hard time getting into this, but then it started to get creepy. I think we'll have an interesting discussion at book club.

My brain isn’t in on this, my brain has abdicated. p101

Godt skrevet og gjenkjennbart om det å være oppslukt av en person man ikke kan nå, men stakk ikke like dypt som andre bøker av Vigdis Hjorth for meg.

This book had a lot of beautiful parts. What got in the way for me was the length of some of the sentences and the length of the book in general. It’s quite repetitive, particularly in the first half. The layout was cool - there were pages with only one or two sentences on which I thought would make it a quicker read, but some of the sentences were so long it was hard to understand and therefore made it drag. It really felt like a 400+ page book even though it came in at 341 pages.

It’s a book of small happenings and I think it would have been twice as powerful if it had been cut down so that you really get the core scenes, rather than having to wade through all the ‘filler’ to get to those parts.
