Felt like reading a fever dream similiar to Alice in Wonderland, but much sadder than that.

This was such a fun read with a terribly sad topic. It was giving Alice in wonderland, it was giving labyrinth.

Another of Joanne Harris's beautiful Child Ballad novellas, this one a play on the Orpheus story, playing out a timeless story of Mother's love, the desire to save what has been lost & the battle between selfish & selfless love.
Beautifully written, by turns haunting & poignant, with equally beautiful illustrations by Bonnie Helen Hawkins.

Just not really for me, whimsical and beautifully written but I just felt that something was missing

Re imagining the tale of orpheus in the underworld making the love about a mother for a daughter and exploring the difference between romantic/erotic love and unconditional love. The fairy world was beautifully evoked.
