I'm not sure that I ever really got into the story? You don't feel attached to any of the characters and can't care about their journey. The side characters aren't really characters, just little statues. Very underwhelming.

This is a stunning little gem. Reminiscent of the labyrinth with other worlds, fairies, magic and a Halloween king. I love this book so much!

This book is simply gorgeous. The prose, the art, the story, just an ephemeral dream.

I've enjoyed all of Joanne Harris's books, but her child-ballad inspired folk tales are sublime. They're not great weighty tomes to be waded through, or complex puzzles to be deciphered; they're short, simple stories full of wonderful imagery and warming words that weave a spell on you.
I should also mention that this is probably one of the most treasured books on my bookshelves, along with Pocketful of Crows and The Blue Salt Road. They're small hardbacks with beautiful covers, amazingly illustrated, and just feel so good to hold and to read.
