What a perfect and beautiful way to wrap up the Four Horsemen. This book left me crying tears of sadness and joy. I love that all of the books are so similar and yet so unique. Death? The best of them all!

I have to preface this with a disclosure that this is no hate to the author or the series. I know I’m in the minority here and can see why people love it, but it just wasn’t for me. So, please don’t hate me; this is just how I feel.
Now, I had a very hard time with “Death,” and just the series in general. First, the book has the virginity trope where the character is almost infantilized, which I genuinely CAN’T stomach. “What does this do” or “Why am I feeling this way” during sex makes it so childlike and gross, I just can’t handle it. I couldn’t read any of the sex scenes. Now, I realize that this is a me thing and shouldn’t be held against the book because some people like the trope. Although it made me consider DNFing, like I did with “White Horse Black Nights,” it’s not why I didn’t enjoy the book and overall series as a whole.
“Death” and “The Four Horsemen” series were extremely repetitive. Girl joins horseman on trip despite hating him and what he stands for. Girl tries to stop horseman in various ways but ultimately fails. Girl watches horseman kill millions of humans, including people they love and care about, yet still stays with and cares for horseman. Horseman loves girl and eventually gives up purpose for one reason or another. I was hoping the different books would deviate a little more from each other, and they just didn’t.
Additionally, I felt as though we were leading up to something grand—people have said “Death” is their favorite book, after all—but it fell flat. I don’t know, I was just disappointed in this series.
Finally, the book just felt like it was dragging. I couldn’t believe how much I had left to read after Laz went to the four horsemen to save Ben. It was just a lot and nothing at the same time. Also, I’m not gonna lie, I couldn’t stand the MCs. They’re so stubborn and hypocritical and refuseeeeee to try to understand one another until the very end. It makes for an annoying and frustrating read. 2 stars for the book, and 2.5 stars for the whole series.

Pretty good.
The books in general are pretty formulaic (esp the first two) but enjoyed them enough to continue the series.
The spice is veryyy nice. The name Lazarus was just so silly. Like, we get it, she comes back to life. It’s just not subtle at all.

(Southerners/East Coasters say “I-35” not “THE I-35)
