Good, Not sure I'll read the second book...

I enjoyed the book. However, I fee like there were multiple story lines in this book that didn't fit together well. It made the main character, Beth, have more bad luck than someone in real life would have. It was a little bit of a reach as far as reality.

Catching up on some of Leigh's earlier series. This was not on the same level as her newer works, but it was a decent book.

I had a really hard time getting into this book at first. I had just read all the books in the Morgan Dane series by the same author, and was hoping it would be similar. This is really a different book, and a little different style. Once I told myself to give the book a chance, I really started to like it.

It was a little predictable, but still a really good read. I enjoyed the romance aspect to the story.

I see now the benefits of actually reading an author's work by publication date, lol. Anyhow, this was another fast-paced domestic thriller. Ms Leigh is quickly becoming a favorite for me.
Part of the Kindle Unlimited catalog.

I enjoyed this romantic suspense. The h was strong and independent. The H had to cope with a new disability which killed his career as a cop but he knew how to be gentle, especially with the h‘s traumatized kids. Also loved the failed police dog who would always protect his mistress and obey the h‘s young daughter.

There is a touch of supernatural as the h‘s uncle has visions. I do not like that in my mysteries and find it a cope out.

The serial killer‘s after the h was also not necessary in my opinion and made it a bit over the top.

Despite the negative, I still really enjoyed the story.

Beth is running from a life that no longer is hers. With her children in tow and danger tracking her down, her only choice is to stay with ex homicide detective forced into retirement from an injury. Jack O’Malley is determined to keep them safe but with a serial killer on the loose and Beth’s ex husband using any means necessary to keep his secrets a secret, the danger is getting closer.

While this book kept you on your toes and the ending was unexpected, I just wasn’t a big fan of the writing style
