Mind bending twists

While book 1 felt slow and left me a little cold in both the romance and shady secret societies department, book 2 did not have these issues. I was immediately grabbed by the mystery, and the mind bending contradictions of Eva’s life in shambles. It is romantic suspense, but the romance mostly runs in the background and serves as complement to the main plot rather than competing for attention. We get to dig deep into Eva’s psyche, however Adam starts out as an intriguing and mysterious but honorable male lead, but we never truly get to know his character and he remains much of an enigma.

We met The Eight in the last book, and we meet The Swords in this one. But this is a story that doesn’t just spotlight the mysteriously sexy aspect of secret societies, it also explores their dark, seedy underbelly. It goes deep into themes of centuries old institutions built upon white male privilege and entitlement, and the dire need to dismantle them to remake them anew, more inclusive and better than before. It dives into themes of mental health and nature vs nurture, and the thin line between legal and unethical that powerful people often feel entitled to cross, and its far reaching repercussions.

This story not as good as the first book. It's definitely more unique, though. I wasn't in love with the chemistry between the MMC and FMC.

I am a Claire Contreras fan from day one. And I love me a romantic suspense journey and she delivered with this one. From the beginning you are thrown into a, WTF, who is that, what the hell, oh no he didn't, oh hell no she did what, moments...You are constantly second guessing the last thought you had. A hard turn here, a sharp turn back, and then a complete u-turn and you are standing back at the beginning wondering what is what. I really enjoyed that part. The connection part took me a good part of the book to really solidify. I wished I would have been more invested in the romance from the get go, I am enjoying this secret society life style and can't wait for more. xo

I received an advance copy of this from Valentine PR on behalf of the author. My review is unbiased and hasn't been influenced.

This was a rollercoaster from page one. Mysteries a plenty and twist after twist keeps you guessing right up until the end. You don't know who to root for or who is telling the truth! It's mental mind games at it's best and I'm obsessed. I really appreciated the added inspo and I cannot wait for the next one! I really liked Adam and Eva both separate and together.

secrets on secrets.

There was a lot of twist and turn and questions throughout this book. The main characters almost instantly fell in love which I found kind of impractical. But Overall I did enjoy it.

I mean, I thought Half Truths throws you for a trip, but with Twisted Circles you fall deeper down the rabbit hole that Contreras has created with this series. It is intense, suspenseful and so much more. With the concept alone, I was blown away and fully engrossed in every word. You also get an amazing connection between Eva and Adam. They have great banter and amazing character build through this story as well.
I have to say what I loved about this story the most is the attention to detail and how things are all woven together and interconnected. It keeps your attention the whole time because you really do not want to miss something. You want to feel those intense moments with the characters. You want to delve into every little detail that these societies have for answers and so much more! The complexity and the concept gives you something so amazing it is something you really do have to read for yourself! It is a must read, hands down!

I've been waiting for Twisted Circles and it's here! After reading Half-Truths, I was soooo eager to learn more about these societies. Claire definitely has a real great thing going with this romantic suspense series.
I love that from the very beginning that you're just immediately sucked in. It's been tough for me to focus on reading, but once I got my groove going there was no stopping me. From beginning to end, the questions are just flying through my mind. And by the end, I can't quite say they were all answered, but I hope they will as the series goes on.

I had my list of suspects going and I was close to being spot on, but there some definite unexpected twists that'll leave you saying, nooo wayyyyyy!

5 Twisted Crowns

Suspense romance is my favorite, and Claire has a knack for writing my absolute favorite, the ones where nothing is ever quite as it seems. Twisted Circles rivals my very favorite suspense romance from Claire and sits as one of my favorites by her.

The star of the show is Eva, the heroine of the novel, and Adam is a delectable piece of eye candy that plays the supporting role as the hero. This is pretty opposite to most romance novels, but I absolutely loved that Eva was the one sorting it all out. She is strong and smart, and she adapts so well as details are revealed and secrets unearthed.

Adam is charming in the way he supports and loved her throughout the whole ordeal, and his ability to contemplate and change his mind and positions on matters as the novel progresses is beyond attractive. I love a progressive man.

This plot, which I can’t say much about as almost everything would be a spoiler, will keep you on the edge of your seat. Readers will be trying to piece all the facts together to solve the mystery along with the characters, and they will become enthralled in every piece. The romance, while it takes a back seat to the main plot line, is still there. Adam and Eva are phenomenal together and work as a team. Their romance is believable and this is enough steam to keep romance lovers engaged while still keeping the main plot line at the forefront. I’m absolutely loving this entire world.

Claire Contreras continues to astound with her new standalone SECRET SOCIETY series. Readers get romance, suspense and intrigue, and topics that speak to many relevant social issues we as a society face today. Twisted Circles is definitely sitting at the top of my 2020 favorite list.

Oh man, this book! I’m not even sure what to say because I don’t want to spoil a thing. I read and loved Half Truths & I still feel like I went in blind to this story. And I’m so glad because there were so many twists that I never saw coming. Even at the 65% mark, I had no clue. The story was dark & disturbing & completely riveting. And no one writes a strong female character quite like Claire Contreras. Eva was smart and tough and if she needed saving at all, she was going to do it herself.

I love this series. It’s incredibly unique & after reading this book, I especially loved Claire’s afterward because I was dying to know how she even came up with any of this.

If you like books that’ll keep you glued to the pages, desperate for answers you can’t figure out on your own, then this one is for you. I highly recommend Twisted Circles & Half Truths & I’ll be waiting anxiously for Nolan’s story.
