I think I'm falling in love with Will Trent. 😉 I love this series by Karin Slaughter. Will is such an interesting, unique, and complex character. The supporting characters are just as interesting and complex. In this story, Will's partner, Faith's mom, has been kidnapped. There are plenty of surprises and secrets revealed. There is suspense and palpable tension present from the onset of the book. This is my favorite book in this series so far. I would highly recommend that you read the series in order. It is worth it. It gives the reader the backstories of all the characters, which really helps the reader connect with them. Connecting with characters is something I love to do when I'm reading. Is it even worth it if you don't? Actually, after I started this series, someone recommended the Grant County series as a prequel. The deeper dive into one of the character's backstory includes another character for you to get to know. I suggest you start with those. I wish I had. I intend to read that series alongside this one even though these books contain spoilers for it, because I'm that invested in the characters. I think it will definitely make the story even more intriguing. Reading these books for me is like I'm directing my own TV series in my head. The descriptions are vivid but not overwritten, and I can see it all in my mind very clearly. This is a great series worth reading from the beginning for any fans of police procedurals,  especially if you are already a fan of the author.
