I enjoyed the variety of characters and the way the story line went from the police perspective to the village person perspective. I didn't find the story to be predictable per say, but it lacked suspense and the story meandered, allowing me to change my thoughts on each of the potential suspects.

This was cozy and kept me guessing. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Mystery is not my genre of choice and this particular book is too cozy for my liking. But to be fair to all the mystery writers, I am very monogamous in my love for a detective. I gave my heart to Satyajit Ray's Feluda when I was growing up. No one can measure up to him. 😀

I finally read a Louise Penny book. I really liked her writing and found beauty in a mystery. I usually am not one for mystery books, but really wanted to give her a try. The story centers around Inspector Gamache from Montreal who goes to a small town to investigate an artist that was killed in the woods in the early morning. Someone shot her with a bow and arrow. Was it an accident or was it on purpose?

I really wanted to like this. The good: a progressive view of small town life. Some pretty good jokes. But the bottom line is I wasn't convinced to care about the huge pile of characters. Also wondered if some of the jokes were in-jokes about Quebec that I didn't know. This book is probably a great book for someone, just not me.

3.5. Was a bit slow going for me but picked up towards the end. Had no idea who the murderer was.
