This book like all the thrillers contains some plottwists. Now. One of them to be suprising leens on the society's bias towards poor people and crime. If you don't automatically assume poor person is doing the crime you will not be suprised. Another plot twist or rather two banded together are based on the nurture vs. nature dialog. The dialog that is so easily used to look down upon adoptees. If you are not comfortable with that ( and I am not) this book will annoy you to no end. In short even though this book stars two gay men ( to be honest the most represented LGBTQ+ part in media) it is very harsh towards people in poverty, women, bisexuals ( yep cheating bisexual trope here we go) and finally children that had misfortune of having partents that were addicts. Also main character with his snobbery and good looks sounds like terrible self-insert nobody asked for.

I read most of this book in one day, at times it gets really dark. I already have a book by the same author to read next.

Like many thrillers nowadays, the premise and initial plot is good, but is tarnished somewhat by the author’s apparent need to fit in as many plot twists as possible into the final few chapters.

It’s not an unenjoyable book, but I found a lot of the character’s motivations flimsy at best, not to mention the seemingly random insertion of a character’s history of violent thoughts in the final chapters in order to give them a motive for the murder the book is based around.

this book was slay cuz of the plot but i hated all of the characters and it was way too drawn out and slow. some of the writing wasn't very good and some of the plot was a bit confusing  *spoilers after this*     it never really understood how tituses character changed and why and it was super confusing why rachel took the blame like ik it was explained but i still didn't understand like if she had always wanted to kill him why did she go through so much work to involve herself in his life and then take the blame cuz she had always wanted to kill him so wouldn't she be mad idk her entire motive was unclear to me

the concept of this book was actually pretty great
it's just the constant pop culture references especially at the start of the book that threw me off
i loved how the theme of classism was involved in this book
