Such a wonderful book for children about diversity and how it can positively impact us rather than make us bitter and hateful. I honestly think a fair few of adults could stand to benefit from this book themselves. I mean, how are we supposed to teach children acceptance, empathy, understanding and compassion if the adults being the role model themselves don't have it or don't understand it. This was such a refreshing book to be honest, it talks about the real stuff without making it too heavy for the intended audience (children). It's definitely one I'll have to add to my list to buy for my own collection and support because my god where were books like these when I was a kid? We need more!

A nice read-aloud for the beginning of school especially but any time a class needs a reminder that "all are welcome." To make it even better, the wheelchair girl could have taken part in the dragon performance, and the "bread" could not be passed around in the lunchroom (no sharing food--allergic people should be welcome, too). Told in rhyme.

After my comment on the last book read, here we have another one. I liked this one but as my husband pointed out, it's not the children that have prejudices - it's learned behaviour.

An excellent message. Rhyming is always fun in a read aloud.
