I really like the main character. This wasn't the best book in the series but I still enjoyed the plot twist at the end and how the author tied everything together by the end.

Colter Shaw is the son of a survivalist, and uses the skills he was taught in childhood as a bounty hunter, tracking missing people for rewards. In this case he is tracking a scientist who has gone on the run with her young daughter, fleeing from her violent ex-husband who has just been released from prison. But of course there’s more to it than that, as Colter realises when he discovers a couple of hit-men are on the trail too…

This started out as a trilogy with an underlying story arc that was resolved in book 3. I’m glad he’s brought Colter back for a fourth outing, and without the background story this one stands alone, and is even more fast-paced since it has only one storyline to contend with. An excellent thriller.

One of Deaver's best...

Having read all of Deaver's books, some I liked, some not so much, I have to say this is one of his best. In typical fashion for this author what you read is not always what you think. There is a fine line between pulling that off and tricking the reader. In this one, Deaver pulls it off.
When I reached the major twist, I had to stop reading for a minute and recall what had transpired up to that point. After reflection, I had to admit this was well done.
This one gets five stars.

Didn't see the final twist coming. Looking forward to the TV series.

Colter Shaw wird beauftragt, Allison Parker und ihre Tochter aufzuspüren. Die beiden sind auf der Flucht vor Parkers gewalttätigen Ehemann, der, frisch aus dem Gefängnis entlassen, blutige Rache geschworen hat. Normalerweise gelingt Shaw das Aufspüren seiner Aufträge in Windeseile. Doch in Allison Parker hat er seine Meisterin gefunden!

"Rachejäger" ist der 4. Auftrag für Colter Shaw und hat mich sehr gut unterhalten. Die Geschichte ist nicht nur rasant, sondern auch spannend und Jeffery Deaver spart nicht mit Momenten, in denen mir der Atem stockte.

Die Story wirkt dieses Mal wie ein wild gewordener Roadtrip. Es scheint, als ob Prämienjäger Colter Shaw das erste Mal immer einen Schritt zu spät ist. Ich habe mit ihm recherchiert, gefiebert und war tatsächlich wütender als er, wenn ihm Allison Parker und ihre Tochter einen Schritt voraus waren.

Natürlich setzt der Autor wie gewohnt auf falsche Fährten und Verwirrung. Und obwohl ich Deaver seit Jahren lese, gelingt es ihm immer wieder, mich an der Nase herumzuführen. Sehr beeindruckend.

Das Ende ist logisch herbeigeführt und spart nicht an Aha-Momenten.

Insgesamt kann ich den Thriller nur empfehlen.

When Deaver is on form there's no-one better. Often you see things coming, but not in this. Great characters and super plotting, do yourself a favour and read this one!

Colter Shaw 100% entertaining

This might be my favorite series Deaver is writing now. Definitely a page turner.

Reminiscent of a less violent Reacher, mixed in with a bit McGyver, infused with a bit of Sherlock. A really enjoyable addition to this series!
